GENERAL INFO
Residential Camp
Our residential camp is held at Hickstead Show ground normally around the 2nd week of August during the school holidays. The age range is 12 to 25 years.
What can they expect ?
From day one they should expect to have FUN! On average there will be 30 -40 members at camp.  The week consists of flat work ,jumping, stable management and using some of the amazing facilities at Hickstead including the water complex in ring 4, but most of all, having  a great time with all your friends.
Children soon find their feet and settle into the routine of yard duties, stable management and the full-range of riding disciplines punctuated by delicious meals. Â We have a buddy system for all new members, this means they are paired up with either an older member or a member who has been to camp before to help show them the way. Â It has been very successful as the campers know who to ask if they need help.
Requirements for attending camp
Rally attendance
You must have attended at least 3 rallies on the pony you are taking to camp in the previous 12 months to be eligible to attend. Camp counts as one rally if you are riding the same pony. If a rider has not attended three rallies on a new pony they will be asked to do so before confirming their place so they can be seen riding and grouped accordingly.
THIS IS A PONY CLUB NATIONAL REQUIREMENT BUT EXCEPTIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED WITH DISCRETION AND DISCUSSION WITHIN COMMITEE IN THE FOLLOWING CIRCUMSTANCES :
- PC Members from another pony club  – just get in touch and we will contact DC or mutual instructors to confirm suitability and attendance at their rallies. Ideally would like to see the combination in action in some way!
- Sudden lameness and being lent another pony/horse  – if combination are known or assessed.
- Young/Green horses who may need rest/swop as agreed with instructors . GROUPS will not be changed though from initial pairing,
This will allow the riders to be put into the right groups at camp and get to know some of the instructors.
