Mounted Games

To provide an opportunity for all Branches and Centres interested in Mounted Games to compete against each other and to encourage a high standard of riding.

Mounted Games is:

  • Fun
  • Fast
  • Fantastic

If you like Gymkhana Games and want to have lots of fun then you and your pony will love The Pony Club Mounted Games where you and your team will get to play lots of fun and imaginative games.

Anyone who is under the age of 15 and able to ride on their own can join in the fun on their pony. Mounted Games are organised into two sections:

Junior Team: Not 11 years old by 1st January
Senior Team: Not 15 years old by 1st January

Preliminary rounds called Area Competitions take place in April and May.

The qualifying teams from Area Competitions then go to the ZONE FINALS which are held in June and July.

The qualifying Junior Teams from the Zone Finals go to The Pony Club Championships in August each year, to compete in the Junior Championship.

An Intermediate Competition was introduced at The Championships in 2006 and is still going strong.

The Four Winning Senior Teams from each Zone Final qualify for the Prince Philip Cup Final at Horse of The Year Show in October each year. The Winner of each of the Senior Runners Up competitions at The Pony Club Championships take the 5th and 6th qualifying places for this competition.

DAKS International Mounted Games

With lots of practice you could also ride for your Country! England, Scotland, Wales, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland compete at The Royal Windsor Horse Show held in May each year.

An annual International competition hosted in turn between Great Britain, America, Australia and Canada also takes place.

Remember, Mounted Games Study Days are aimed to inform Members, Trainers and Parents of the rules for the Games to be played in that year. They are a great opportunity for everyone to see the new Area and Zone games for the forthcoming season and there is always a Pony Club Official on hand to answer any queries.
